Join Us For Worship!
Tonight, we will gather in the sanctuary for Maundy Thursday. We will remember how the events of Jesus’ betrayal, trial, crucifixion, and resurrection are set into motion as we recount Jesus celebrating the Passover with his disciples.
On Good Friday, we gather again to hear the last Seven Words of Jesus Christ and extinguish the candles on the altar one by one, to signify the darkness that enveloped the world during Christ’s Crucifixion.
Easter Sunday celebrates the empty tomb.
The Rev. Dr. Luke Powry says that, “Easter, the resurrection of Jesus, doesn’t erase our pain or trouble, just as the wounds of the crucifixion on Jesus’ body are not erased by the resurrection.”
Ben Brody and David Brolin wrote this new hymn while the world was in the height of the COVID pandemic:
Christ still rises when fear grips our city,
when death takes no pity,
when much is unknown.
Christ still rises when friends are divided,
when joy feels misguided,
when we are alone.
Christ still rises when churches are shuttered
when praises are muttered
when prayers go unsaid.
Christ still rises when peace has all faded.
No matter what, Jesus Christ still rises.
See you in church!
